Afternoon tea

It can be tricky knowing what to offer kids to eat when your party falls in the mid-afternoon slot, between lunch and dinner time. It feels odd to give them a full meal around 3pm, doesn't it?

Faced with this exact dilemma this weekend, I prepared little afternoon teas for the kids at my son's party, which went down a treat. Sausage rolls, crudités and hummus were accompanied by mini rocky road squares, lemon drizzle cakes and Mars Bar Krispies. Strawberries and grape snakes were served on the side and the sharing element to the boxes worked really well. The children really engaged with one another, and enjoyed exploring what was in front of them, sharing the bits and pieces they didn't mind trading.

All in all a great success!
